Why to Choose Both Anti-Microbial and Ethanol Safe Housing in Healthcare Environments

June 22th, 2020

When it comes to our current habitat under COVID-19, many of us are running around panicking with a bottle of hand sanitiser, just trying to avoid any interaction with germs. According to the CDC, current evidence finds suggests that COVID-19 related germs may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials. The cleaning of visibly dirty surfaces followed by the disinfection of the space is the best measure for preventing COVID-10 and any other respiratory illnesses, in both households and community settings.

Many of those who are still working onsite could benefit on knowing and learning the guidelines for how to properly disinfect their hardware devices, so in not to spread the virus. Unitech has already jumped on educating partners on how to just that, while also introducing a few beneficial solutions for combating the issues brought on by COVID-19. Their full list of instructions, per device, can be found here.

While wearing protective vinyl gloves, the following ingredients have been confirmed a positive participant for cleaning agents, when it comes to wiping down hardware set-ups:

  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Ammonium Chloride
  • Ammonia Solutions
  • Acetone
  • Ketones
  • Aqueous or Alcoholic Alkaline Solutions
  • Ethanolamine

In these healthcare environments disinfecting is one thing, but many healthcare staff and faculty are taking the proper precautions to protect themselves, their patients, and co-workers with specific hardware devices. Hospitals and outpatient centers are utilising their employees to check and report the temperatures of incoming guests/patients as they walk through the door. Typically, anyone with a 37-degree temperature or higher is immediately isolated from the rest or sent home to quarantine within the comfort and safety of their home, to keep away from those high-risk individuals already in hospital beds.

No matter which Unitech model you’ve adopted, disinfecting the equipment is essential. You’re going to be exposed to dirt, dust, germs, and unfortunately bodily fluids in whichever work environment you’re working in. It’s a known fact. In these times, it’ll really pay off in the end, to be cautious and careful when it comes to protecting your devices and equipment, as it goes from hand to hand.

Unitech is releasing a line of new and updated products to assist the Healthcare market, with one of them being the Unitech IR Thermal Reader. This Thermal Reader is being used to do just that, in very preventative and predictive measures. This embedded medical grade device provides a real-time read of one’s temperature and can aid medical workers in taking the best actions towards diagnosing and treating this soon-to-be patient. The device has been constructed and housed with an anti-microbial and ethanol safe material that cuts out cross-infection from user to user.
